North Star was selected to lead the development of Eureka! Science + Discovery through a competitive process and right from the outset I was convinced that Tobias Lumb was the right person for the Project Director’s role.  His creativity, professionalism and passion stood out and these qualities, along with extensive expertise and knowledge in complex capital project planning and delivery, were evident throughout our process.

North Star has provided the Eureka! Board and Executive team with outstanding support during the development and delivery of our Eureka! Science + Discovery project. It was a complex multi-stakeholder capital project made more challenging by the onset of the COVID 19 pandemic. However, Tobias and Matt remained calm and unflappable, working tirelessly to overcome obstacles and find solutions to problems that could not have been imagined at the outset of the scheme. 

As Chair of Eureka! I felt secure in the knowledge that North Star always gave the Board a clear and balanced picture of the progress of the project and helped us to understand and manage all of the associated risks.

As Project Director for Eureka! Science + Discovery, Tobias worked positively with Wirral Council both in our capacity as the local authority and part funder of the project. Tobias led the delivery of this world class visitor attraction, a key catalyst project within Wirral’s transformational regeneration programme along the Left Bank of the River Mersey. Tobias demonstrated his professionalism throughout, with an excellent understanding of our wider strategic aims for the area. He showed outstanding partnership, leadership and problem solving skills, working with an extensive range of stakeholders and complex interdependent projects, as well as dealing with a wide range of funders across public, private and voluntary sectors. 

Matt Johnson has worked alongside the Petrichor team on projects since we started the company in 2014. In fact he was a key member of the team even before that when we worked together in design teams at Continuum and Past Forward, both at the time York-based museum and exhibition design companies.

Matt is not only an excellent project manager capable of overseeing schedules and budgets and micro-managing projects to the last detail, he is also a really effective communicator and always a loyal team player. Another aspect which gives him a tremendous advantage in this industry is his design training and creative eye which are great assets when developing concepts and turning creative ideas into reality.
